Our mission
The Löwenbande Foundation is a charitable foundation. Its endowment is preserved permanently; projects are funded from the income it generates.
Wealth always brings the responsibility to do good. If everyone does their part to leave the world a little better than they found it, many people are helped.
Guided by the United Nations’ Global Goals, our family has chosen three areas that we support through a range of projects: water, forests, and education, young people and sport.
Projects
The projects we fund are wide-ranging: from wells for children in Ghana and teaching materials for school classes to an annual Christmas campaign and a playground in Ukraine, self-confidence courses for pre-school children and new goals and kits for a football club in Germany. They are carried out together with charitable partners on the ground.
Water supply | Ghana
Since 2014, together with the charity Aktiv für Afrika e. V., wells and water points have been built in Nnudu, Aboasa and Kwanjarko in Ghana. Clean drinking water in the village protects against disease – and children no longer walk long distances to fetch water, so they can go to school instead. More about the project (German)
Teaching materials | Ghana
Learning needs the basics: we equip school classes in Ghana with teaching materials so that children and young people can learn to read, write and count – and take their future into their own hands.
Help for self-help | Kenya
Since 2013 we have supported the charity Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe Munyu Kenia e. V. The Maria Magdalena Special School in Munyu is a boarding school for children and young people with intellectual and physical disabilities. Alongside lessons, they receive practical training that enables them to lead independent lives.
Christmas campaign | Ukraine
Every Christmas we give presents to children in Ukraine – many of them live near the front line or have had to leave their homes. Together with the initiative Alex21 and its “Become a Santa” campaign, we bring them gifts, a festive moment and a piece of carefree childhood.
Playground | Ukraine
Children need places where they can simply be children. That is why we built a playground in Ukraine – with a swing, seesaw, roundabout, climbing frame and outdoor fitness equipment. For the children in the village it has become a meeting place where playing and laughing are part of everyday life again.
selfm.aid | Greece
We support the Swiss aid organisation selfm.aid. Its approach: self-help instead of dependency. In the SKILLS FACTORY on the Greek island of Samos, refugees work alongside professionals in workshops – from tailoring and the kitchen to maintenance – producing everyday essentials themselves and gaining skills for their future.
Tigerhasen | Germany
Together with the “Tigerhasen” – an award-winning programme that builds children’s personality and self-confidence – we fund courses for pre-school children in the Munich area every year. Through the interactive “Tigerhasen story”, the courses bridge the confident presence of a strong tiger and the growing child: through play, children learn to believe in themselves.
Football | TuS Altrip
Sport brings people together and strengthens communities. We donated new goals to TuS Altrip (Turn- und Sportverein 1906 e. V.) and its active football department – together with a new set of tracksuits and jerseys for the team.
